This 12 day/nights tour will traverse a large part of southern Morocco from the ancient city of Marrakesh, over the spectacular landscape of the High Atlas Mountains to the northern edge of the vast Sahara. Staying in the Skoura Oasis, village of Tamdaght, the spectacular Dades Gorge and Erg Chebbi dunes, then returning to Marrakech via the Jebel Sahro Mountains, Nkob and the Draa Valley.

As a small group of like-minded people you will experience the wonderful world of the indigenous Amazigh (Berber) people, and the power and beauty of the Moroccan landscape and culture, including traditional music, visits to galleries and museums, artisan workshops and historic sites.

You will have an experienced team of hosts including professional Amazigh guide Abdenabi Imelouane. Accommodation is provided in comfortable traditional guesthouses where you will enjoy the delights of Amazigh food and hospitality, the warmth and good humour of the people, and insights into both the Islamic world and Amazigh spirituality and contemporary life.

On the journey there will be time to paint and draw, working with light, colour and creative expression as you travel through the spectacular landscapes. A day at Erg Chebbi will take you off road by 4WD around the highest dunes in Morocco where we meet the Nomads and draw the spectacular views of the Sahara and surrounding mountains.

Participants will need to bring their own art materials and equipment for working ‘en plein air’. Of particular focus on the tour will be the sharing of ideas, collecting inspiration for future development, keeping a visual diary and participating in general discussion, reviews and critiques as part of an evening program. The program offers an innovative and creative way to explore a new place that is stimulating, supportive and safe.
